Issues with time management – “What should I do next?”

Do you know that feeling? We have so much on our minds that once we finish something we do not know what should be our next step. As a result, at the end of the day, week and even year, it turns out that we are behind with our work. Why is this happening to us?

Why does it always look like OTHERS have more time and are more organized than we are?

Well, firstly – we must remember that each of us has the same amount of time.

The second thing – everyone spent their time the way they want to. When we look carefully analyze the differences between organized people and those not-so-organized, we will notice that the first group has clearly specified goals.

And here we reach a conclusion. It is our life that determines our goals. There will be a separate article concerning types of those goals. Now we will focus on the influence that choosing a particular task has on our daily schedule.

To see what the problem is, let’s analyze the example:

If we have a goal – like starting our own business. And there are people in our environment that we try to take the example of. We see them practicing sports, going to gyms, developing their companies, organize meetings and all sorts of charities, and we absolutely love it. We also want to try everything and work everywhere. And suddenly it turns out that we cannot possibly do half of it, not to mention starting our own business. It is very surprising to us.

There is plenty of such examples. All have a common denominator – we demand too much from ourselves. Even if the main goal is to start a company, a good technique is to set small targets at first – and divide everything into stages.

What can we do? Give up on some activities! Yes!

Sometimes there are so many things on our heads. We have to let some go and not agonize over them.

Another example:

If you are a young father or mother, it is logical that you will not have as much time to spent at the gym and meet with friends as you used to. You are now a parent and you have to take care of your offspring and support your wife or husband – those are your primary goals.

Maturity requires making adequate choices. We must be able to give up on small entertainments and focus on the big picture.

If you are a student and you have an exam on Monday, but there is a part on Saturday and you really want to go. If you can bite the bullet and choose the harder but better option, you will not only pass the exam, you are more likely to succeed in life in general.

Once you make the choice, the emotions accompanying it will be unpleasant. However, in the long perspective, your life will become easier and the satisfaction that you will feel from accomplishing your goals will be greater than any joy that a party could give you.

Selection the best tasks to perform and the most important goals to focus on will automatically enhance our time management. There is only one condition – do not require too much from yourselves and rejoice in your small successes.

Have a nice, well-organized day!
